1470 Automatic Gamma Counter

The 1470 Automatic Gamma Counter from Perkin Elmer can take multiple samples for radiometric detection. The Gamma Counter uses a unique well-type detector and sample changer system along with highly effective lead shielding, resulting in high counting efficiency, constant background and minimal crosstalk. 7300 Real Time PCR System

Location: 410 and 430 Skirkanich

This PCR by Applied Biosystems has advanced multicolor detection abilities for gene expression analysis, absolute quantitation, SNP genotyping and +/- assays utilizing positive controls. This PCR uses 96 well- block and takes 0.2 mL tubes.

Allegra 25R DNA Centrifuge

The Allegra 25R DNA Centrifuge by Beckman Coulter operates at a temperature from 2 to 40 degrees Celsius. It can reach speeds of 15K rpm.

CentriVap Speed Vacuum

Location: 335 Skirkanich

CentriVap Centrifugal Vacuum Concentrators by Labconco use a combination of centrifugal force, vacuum and heat for speed evaporation of multiple small samples. The CentriVap's larger chamber and selection of higher capacity rotors offer the maximum throughput required by molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical research and analytical chemistry laboratories. As many as 132 samples may be processed at once. Sample sizes range from a few microliters up to 25 milliliters. In addition, the Microtiter Plate Rotor holds four standard or two deep well plates. The CentriVap also has a Cold Trap, protecting the accessory vacuum pump from the corrosive effects of vapors and fumes as they evaporate from the samples.

Gene Pulser  Xcell Electroporation System

The Gene Pulser Xcell by Bio-Rad is a modular electroporation system, which includes a main unit, two accessory modules (the CE module and the PC module), and the ShockPod cuvette chamber. The CE module is recommended for use with the Gene Pulser Xcell main unit for electroporation of most eukaryotic cells, including mammalian cells and plant protoplasts. The PC module is recommended for electroporation of bacteria and fungi, as well as other applications where high voltage pulses are applied to samples of small volume and high resistance.

NanoDrop ND-1000 Spectrophotometer

The NanoDrop ND-1000 Spectrophotometer by NanoDrop measures 1-microliter samples with high accuracy and reproducibility. The full spectrum (220nm-750nm) spectrophotometer utilizes a patented sample retention technology that employs surface tension alone to hold the sample in place.

Nicolet 6700 FT-IR Spectrometer

The Nicolet 6700 FT-IR spectrometer by Thermo Fisher Scientific can be configured for multiple spectral ranges (far- IR to UV-Vis), with the option of gold-coated or aluminium optics. The temperature of the source during normal operation is electronically controlled. Users have additional options of 'Rest' and 'Turbo' mode. The former helps to extend the life of the source, while the latter provides extra output for difficult samples.

Odyssey Infrared Imaging System

The Odyssey Infrared Imaging System by Li-Cor Biosciences uses direct infrared fluorescence detection for Western blot analysis. Infrared detection gives you the quantitative analysis and wide linear dynamic range that chemiluminescence can not. Strong and weak bands on the same blot are accurately detected without the uncertainty and inconvenience of multiple exposures, and without spending time in the darkroom. The Odyssey System gives you clear, sharp, reproducible bands without fuzziness or "blowout". Bands hidden by overexposure with chemiluminescence become clear when imaged with Odyssey.

Optima L-100 K BioSafe Centrifuge System

P-1000 Flaming - Brown Micropipette Puller

The P-1000 Micropipette Puller by Suter Instruments fabricates  micropipettes and offers a color touchscreen interface and an extensive library of programs found in the popular Sutter Cookbook. You need to only specify the glass, filament, and type of pipette you require and a suitable program will be identified. Copy and paste functions assure that programs can be easily written and the line repeat mode simplifies multi-line programming. User notes can be added to each program for annotating important information. Help topics are pre-loaded to assist with on-site troubleshooting and the built-in glossary includes text, pictures, and diagrams explaining the terms used in micropipette fabrication. A rotary dial is offered as an alternative to the keypad for numerical entry.

Zetasizer Nano Series

The Zetasizer Nano series by Malvern Instruments can perform a combination of three parameters: particle size analysis, zeta potential measurement, and molecular weight measurement. The analyzer can enable measurements of particles and molecules from 0.6nm to 6 microns. The device provides accurate measurements of zeta potential in aqueous and non-aqueous dispersions. An avalanche - photodiode detector and fiber detection optics give the sensitivity and stability required for absolute molecular weight measurements.
